Tour Itinerary

At 6:30 a.m. we will leave Cairo towards Alexandria, Egypt's most important Mediterranean city.

We will start by touring the Alexandrian port to visit the Citadel of Qaitibay. This defensive complex was built in the 15th century by Sultan Qaitibay, right on the site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria. Several earthquakes destroyed the watchtower, the remains of which were used to build the Citadel.

Then we will move to the south of the city, where we will access the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. The bas-reliefs of the site, one of the most outstanding of Alexandria, show the fusion between Egyptian and Greco-Roman culture.

We will go into its three different levels to know the passages, tunnels, and galleries along which the tombs of the necropolis are distributed. Very close to these catacombs we will find Pompey's Column, located in the place where the temple dedicated to the Greek-Egyptian god Serapis was located.

Afterward, we will enjoy lunch in the center of Alexandria. The menu will include fish and seafood rice. In the afternoon, we will visit one of the most important modern buildings in the city: the New Library of Alexandria. This contemporary building, re-opened in 2002, is one of the most important cultural spaces in the eastern Mediterranean.

In the late afternoon, we will finally return to our hotel in Cairo.
